Sox Beat Twins!
The Red Sox played their best game ever last night, beating the undefeated Twins in a hard fought contest. Good pitching, great hitting, very few errors, and solid performances by players at the end of the batting roster were part of the winning formula. But the biggest thing was playing as a team. The Sox hung together and beat the best in the league.
After another shot to the outfield, Jack the star catcher went out with a possible broken finger from a first base collision. Michael, catching for the first time since he was age 11, took over and played like he'd been behind the plate all year.
Pitching was there when it needed to be. Dalton did not give in when an awesome 300 foot home run over right center scored two. We used 5 pitchers in 4 innings; this experience will pay off big next month.
Despite three "circle K's" we are finally learning to move the bat. Base running was stellar as was getting to first on poorly hit balls. JC got two hits and an RBI, Noah got two hits and a walk, Lorin got at least two hits, Cade finally hit one hard through the gap into left, Jacob got a solid hit to the outfield, and most others did too - everyone got on base. We started the 4th with Cade leading off and finished with him on deck, the first time we gone through the order in one inning all year.
Using the coach's glove, JC caught a fly to right and ended the game bare handing (for reasons known only to JC and the Good Lord) a grounder to second with a fine throw to first. Next up are the rising Tiger where the Red Sox will show they really can play as a team every outing.
