Concordia's Youth Player Development Program is a player-centric program that understands that younger players still have a lot of learning and growing to do within the game and recognize that putting them in an environment where they would receive more training than matches is more developmentally appropriate. This approach allows us to foster development over winning, and lets these young players play freely.
Concordia Soccer Club understands that success is a byproduct of player development. There is a saying... you can't teach tactics without technique. Our Academy focuses on developing the player's technique in an environment where they don't have to worry about making mistakes or fear failure. Experimentation and self expression is encouraged in all of our kids as they learn the game in a fun soccer environment.
Program Goals:
• Improve Technique: When players improve their technical ability they grow in confidence and give themselves a greater capacity to process information, which is vital in the development of young soccer players. Being comfortable on the ball is a must as they grow within the game.
• Team Play: Another way to increase enjoyment of the game is through interaction with team mates through small group activities which enhance skillful and imaginative play. Players begin to understand time and space on and off the ball, how to share it, and how it relates to their teammates.
• Commitment: Discipline is a key factor when learning to play soccer. Consistent attendance, proper equipment (uniform, shoes, shin guards, water), and finally respect for coaches, team mates, and the game. It's essential that kids learn to train in a proper manner.
